About the Prime Minister's Award

The Better Public Building initiative has been celebrated each year since 2001 by the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award which rewards excellence in both design and procurement from across the public sector.

The judges look for high-quality design; efficient procurement; economic and social value; good team work between client, designer and contractor; sound financial management; whole-life value for money; client satisfaction; and sustainability.

The Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award is a special category within the BCIA. When you enter your project for the BCIA, you should indicate its eligibility for the Prime Minister’s Award. All projects shortlisted for other BCIA categories that fulfil the necessary criteria are automatically entered for the Prime Minister’s Award.

The shortlist for the 2010 PM’s Award was announced on 17 June and the winner will be announced on 13 October 2010.
